“Because I said so…”
“I am the parent, you are the child. Never forget that.”
“If you don’t stop, I am going to lose it.”
“I brought you into this world and I can take you out.”
These are all phrases used in the Hollywood representation of parenthood. Sadly, I admit that most of these have been used in my house. It is a tough thing to be a parent! Remember that you are human and so are those children in your house. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone needs patience, and everyone needs forgiveness.
This morning we are looking into the concept of parenting and what the Bible has to say about it. There are several principles that need to stay at the forefront of our minds when it comes to dealing with parenting and its challenges. As those children grow, develop, and (eventually) venture out into the world, we pray that we have prepared our children for the life that is and (most importantly) the life that is to come.
Tonight we wrap up this mini-series on the home by discussing, what I believe to be, the biggest weapon in satan’s current arsenal: Materialism. How has it affected our homes? Are we willing to admit it’s impact? Are we willing to ask for help when it comes to this particular challenge?
Join along with this overtly practical study. It can only help us develop the homes that God desires.
